Marek Hamsik admits “it's wonderful that Milan are interested in me, but if an offer arrived then I'd have to talk to Napoli first.”
The Slovak has been named by newspapers as the primary reinforcement for the Rossoneri and explained as much to Sme in his home country.
“It's wonderful that Milan are interested in me, of course, but I am accustomed to the newspapers writing things that don't come true,” said the midfielder.
“If an offer arrived then I'd have to talk to Napoli first. I would like to try playing for a club that regularly challenges for the Scudetto and Champions League.”
The Partenopei could well fit that bill, as this season they finished third and were Milan's main challengers for a while.
“At the start of the season nobody expected us to qualify for the Champions League. This is an incredible result for the club and I can't wait to hear the competition theme tune. Only then will I realise what we've managed to do, so I'm impatient for the next campaign to start.
“We were in the top Serie A positions for practically the whole season. There was consistency in our performances, so we deserved our place.”
Walter Mazzarri has threatened to walk away, but over the weekend was more conciliatory with the club.
“Mazzarri is a great Coach and we'll see how it goes. We would all be happy if he stayed,” added Hamsik.
