Mauro Zarate's agent claims he wants to stay at Lazio, but President Claudio Lotito admits: “Will we sell? We'll talk about this in January.”
The Argentine looked furious when substituted against Cesena on Wednesday evening and went straight to the locker room, fuelling reports of a new feud with Coach Edy Reja.
President Lotito was asked about the situation when giving a talk to university students.
“Will we sell Zarate? It's only November and not a current problem. The transfer market window opens in January and we'll talk about it then,” was his reply.
The player's agent, and brother, is trying to calm the waters at the Biancocelesti camp.
“I spoke to Maurito yesterday and he was very depressed, but not because of the substitution, rather because Lazio lost at Cesena,” Sergio Zarate told lalaziosiamonoi.it.
“We have a contract with Lazio and at this moment in time have not considered any other alternatives. I will soon speak to Lotito and try to understand what the situation is, even if I don't think there will be problems.
“Maurito loves the Lazio fans and wants to stay in Rome. I think the whole Cesena controversy will disappear straight away, as from what I heard he should start Sunday's match.”
