Parma provide Cassano lifeline?

There are reports that bottom of the table Parma are preparing to sign Antonio Cassano if Sampdoria succeed in terminating his contract.

The Italy international could be a free agent in the next few weeks, as Samp have begun legal proceedings to effectively fire the player.

President Riccardo Garrone has refused to forgive him for their blazing row over failure to attend an awards ceremony and their termination appeal claims he was guilty of “insubordination.”

Potential future clubs for Cassano have included Fiorentina, Palermo, Inter, Juventus and Manchester City.

However, it is now reported that Parma are showing an interest in FantAntonio.

The Ducali are currently propping up the Serie A table and need some star power to help take them out of this situation.

The rumour was boosted by suggestions Coach Pasquale Marino will be sacked if he fails to beat Sampdoria this evening.

The potential replacements both had a good rapport with Cassano in the past – ex-Samp boss Walter Novellino and former Italy Coach Roberto Donadoni.
