The first act of Roma's prospective new President Thomas Di Benedetto would be to give Daniele De Rossi a new contract, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.
The talismanic midfielder's existing deal is due to expire at the end of next season and Roma are keen to ensure that he stays at the club.
Manchester United and Real Madrid have previously expressed an interest in De Rossi, but it's thought that, though sometimes frustrated with Roma, he wants to remain in the capital.
Roma do not want to score another own goal like they appear to have done with Philippe Mexes.
The France international's contract was allowed to run down and there are reports that he has agreed to join Milan at the end of the season.
