Roma will make an attempt to sign Borussia Dortmund centre-back Neven Subotic if Philippe Mexes decides to join Milan, according to Il Corriere dello Sport.
Reports in Italy suggest Mexes has agreed in principle to sign a four-year deal with Milan worth €4.5m a season once his contract expires at Roma in June.
Roma hope to persuade the 28-year-old France international to stay at the Stadio Olimpico, but if they can't a replacement will naturally be sought.
Il Corriere understands Subotic is top of the list in light of his fantastic performances for Bundesliga leaders Borussia Dortmund this season.
Roma will also inquire about the prospect of luring Diego Lugano away from Fenerbahce and Miguel Britos from Bologna.
