Palermo captain Fabrizio Miccoli insists “the team is behind Delio Rossi,” but Serse Cosmi seems favourite to take over.
The Coach was already at risk before this weekend, but the 7-0 humiliation on home turf – their third consecutive defeat – could prove fatal.
“The team is behind Coach Rossi, there is absolutely no doubt about that,” assured Miccoli, who did not play against Udinese due to an Achilles tendon injury.
“We must, however, realistically accept whatever will happen. We lost badly, it was a terrible performance and it seemed right for me to show my face as captain, representing the team in apologising to our fans.
“I have not yet spoken to President Maurizio Zamparini, but I hope to do so soon.”
Zamparini did speak to the media and declared Rossi had “a one per cent chance of staying on the bench.”
According to Sportitalia, the current favourite to take over is former Perugia boss Serse Cosmi.
Other candidates include Franco Colomba and Gianni De Biasi.
