Ballardini seeks new Genoa thrills

Davide Ballardini had “a memorable week” with victories over Sampdoria and Roma, but warns Genoa's trip to Catania will be a tough test.

“Other than the victories, what made this such a memorable week was the way the wins came about,” smiled the tactician ahead of the 11.30 UK time kick-off.

The Rossoblu won the derby and then fought back from 3-0 down to beat Roma 4-3 in an epic thriller.

“That has to be in the past now, though. The team is in good shape and must look forward now with this style of football.

“Catania are accustomed to battling hard, as they do their best work at home and get the majority of their points here. They have put many opponents under pressure at the Massimino.

“We know that we are going into an extremely tough game, both for the capabilities of Catania and the atmosphere in the stadium. We'll have to do extremely well if we are to aspire to a victory.

“This Genoa must remain focused and hungry, as it would be futile otherwise,” concluded Ballardini.
