President Maurizio Zamparini reveals Manchester City approached him for Javier Pastore on deadline day.

The Citizens have been repeatedly linked with a bid for ‘El Flaco,' as have Chelsea and Manchester United.

“A director at Manchester City called me yesterday,” Zamparini told journalists this afternoon with a wry smile.

“I don't speak English, so asked him to send me a fax... I never received anything, so maybe he just wanted to ask me something...

“Anyway, if he had made an offer for Pastore, I would've said he was not for sale. Yet having said that, nothing is truly unattainable in this world.

“If a sheikh wants to do something crazy, then he can come and make me a crazy offer.”
