Lazio have stepped up their efforts to sign Switzerland international wing-back Reto Ziegler, according to Il Corriere dello Sport.
Sampdoria have already rebuffed Milan's efforts to lure Ziegler away from Marassi, but may be forced to cash in, as he only has six months left on his contract.
Il Corriere understands that Lazio have increased their original offer to a figure closer to €2.5m and hope that a deal can be done before deadline day.
Lazio President Claudio Lotito is also prepared to throw in Luciano Zauri, the 33-year-old full-back who is currently co-owned by the two clubs.
