Enzo Bearzot has died

Italy is in mourning today after it emerged that the Coach of the country's 1982 World Cup-winning side Enzo Bearzot has sadly died.

The 83-year-old passed away in Milan this morning. He had been battling illness for some time, but his condition recently deteriorated.

Bearzot was born on September 26, 1927 and was a good central midfielder in the 1950s.

However, he will always be remembered for his time in charge of Italy between 1975 and 1986.

Italy's victory at the World Cup in 1982 is remembered as one of the proudest moments in the country's sporting history, not least for the memorable victories over Brazil and West Germany.
