Serie A top scorer Antonio Di Natale concedes that his international career is probably now over.
The Udinese ace wore the Azzurri No 10 shirt at the 2010 World Cup Finals, but hasn't played for Italy since their shock loss to Slovakia in South Africa.
"I think that my Nazionale chapter has now come to an end," he stated despite going back to the top of the scoring charts domestically.
"Coach Cesare Prandelli has started down a new path which is based on younger players and I think it would be right if he continued on that road."
The 33-year-old has won 36 caps during his career, scoring 10 goals at an average of 0.28 per match.
He made his debut in a November 2002 friendly against Turkey which ended in a 1-1 draw.
His first goal came in a 2-2 draw against the Czech Republic in February 2004, his last was in the 3-2 loss to Slovakia last summer.
