Zlatan Ibrahimovic is ‘still having fun’ and expects to sign a new deal with Milan: ‘If Pioli extends, I’ll extend too.’

The Swede scored the opener from a free kick in Milan’s 3-0 win over Genoa.

“I have fun, before the match, we had already decided how long I would have played. These guys make me have fun and feel young,” Ibrahimovic told Sky Sport Italia.

“We had made errors that cost us the previous two games. It was all our fault, not our opponents’ merit, but we won today and we remain up there.”

The Rossoneri are now one point off leaders Napoli who picked up a 2-2 draw against Sassuolo at the Stadio Mapei.

Milan had lost the previous two matches against Fiorentina and Sassuolo, while Stefano Pioli signed a contract extension with Milan last week.

“Now I have to renew,” Ibra said smiling.

“I am happy for him because he deserves it, if he renews, I renew. Pioli has done a great job.”

Can Milan win the Scudetto?

“I am happy for the fans. For so many years, they have not enjoyed as they are enjoying now. I want to make them happy, but if we don’t win a trophy we haven’t done anything.”

Ibrahimovic returned to Milan for a second spell in January 2020.

His €7m-a-year deal expires at the end of the season, but according to multiple reports in Italy, both the Rossoneri and the striker are willing to continue together until 2023.

The Swede has scored six goals in 12 appearances with the Rossoneri this season.
