Juventus legend and former Italy World Cup winner Alessandro Del Piero has revealed that there is one aspect of Kylian Mbappe’s professionalism that he doesn’t quite understand.

Del Piero is currently on punditry duty for Sky Sport in Italy for Tuesday evening’s round of Champions League quarter-final second legs, including Barcelona’s meeting with Paris Saint-Germain in Catalonia.

Before kick-off, the PSG and France national team captain was a hot topic of debate. There had been suggestions that Mbappe was not up to his usual best during the first leg in Paris last week, which resulted in a 3-2 home loss.

Del Piero said that Mbappe would have been feeling ‘relative pressure’, reported via TMW.

However, there is one aspect off the pitch that Del Piero struggles to comprehend, and that is to do with how Mbappe conducts himself in contract negotiations.

“The way that renewals have gone in previous years, with false farewells, then signing anyway. If you want to stay in Paris, you stay in Paris. I don’t really understand this sort of behaviour.

“On the other hand, next year he’s going to win, so if it doesn’t go to plan this year, he will have a big chance with Real Madrid.”

Approaching the midway stage in the first half of the quarter-final second leg, PSG are trailing 1-0 against Barcelona after Raphina found the net 12 minutes in. The scores currently stand at 4-2 on aggregate in favour of Xavi’s side.
