Hellas Verona striker Giovanni Simeone is no longer a Napoli target, so Borussia Dortmund are ready to swoop.

The Argentina international is expected to leave the Stadio Bentegodi this summer, after finding the net 17 times with six assists in 35 Serie A appearances last season.

He was on loan from Cagliari and made the move to Verona permanent for a total €12m, but his value on the transfer market is already closer to €20m.

Napoli had been mentioned as an interested party, but have now turned their focus towards Sassuolo’s Italy international Giacomo Raspadori.

Instead, Tuttomercatoweb claim that Borussia Dortmund have set their sights on Simeone and their directors plan to visit Verona on Thursday or Friday.

The Bundesliga side need a striker to replace Sebastien Haller, who was diagnosed with testicular cancer during pre-season testing.

It is not yet clear how long Haller will be out for as he undergoes treatment.
