Chievo held Parma to a 1-1 draw at the Bentegodi, as Antonio Mirante made numerous saves and one costly error.
The Ducali were unbeaten in this fixture since May 2007, picking up two draws and a win. The Flying Donkeys were fresh from a 4-0 hammering at the hands of Bologna, while Bostjan Cesar sat out a ban, Nicolas Frey, Boukary Drame, Luciano and Perparim Hetemaj were injured. Stefano Sorrentino was dropped after refusing to turn up to training during transfer talks with Palermo.
Parma left themselves exposed to an early counter-attack, but Antonio Mirante was able to parry the Cyril Thereau effort with an outstretched foot.
Mirante again denied Thereau at the base of the near post, then the Parma goalkeeper flew to palm a Gennaro Sardo cross-shot out from under the bar.
Nicola Sansone had penalty appeals, but was only booked for simulation.
It was all Chievo early on, but Parma took the lead when Ishak Belfodil ran on to a Sansone assist and smashed his shot low into the near bottom corner.
Chievo drew level with Alberto Paloschi, as Mirante was off his line and misjudged the flight of Thereau’s cross, allowing the former Under-21 international to nod into an empty net.
Sardo’s looping header was over the bar and Mirante again denied a Thereau effort. Sardo sprung the offside trap and should’ve done better, but slipped and allowed Mirante to palm it out for a corner.
The Parma goalkeeper again flew to push a Marco Andreolli looping header off the line from a corner.
The Ducali almost snatched victory in the final minutes when an Amauri angled drive flashed across the face of goal to skim the base of the back post.
