Lego Pro club Prato have announced the retirement of former Milan full-back Luca Antonini.

The 34-year-old enjoyed two separate spells with the Rossoneri, making 81 appearances for the club between 2008-2013.

During this time, Antonini won a league title along with an Italian Super Cup, but has had a mixed career since then.

Throughout the last three and a half seasons, the Milan native has played for Genoa, Ascoli and Livorno before returning to Prato where he made his professional debut.

The Tuscan club issued the following statement to confirm the player’s decision.

“AC Prato announces that it has terminated the contract with footballer Luca Antonini by mutual consent.

“The Club accepted the will of the captain to end his career as an athlete.

“Acknowledging his value as a person, we have also agreed with Luca that he will now be part of the Biancazzuro youth acdemy.

“AC Prato 1908 thank the Captain for his loyalty and passion to our colours shown through all these years and wishes him to repeat the great success achieved in his career in this new adventure."
