“It’s too early to say whether Napoli v Fiorentina is a Scudetto showdown,” claims director Cristiano Giuntoli.

The Viola are currently top of the table, while the Partenopei are another form team after crushing Milan 4-0 at San Siro.

They face off at the Stadio San Paolo next Sunday afternoon.

“It’s too early to say whether this will be a Scudetto showdown, but it will certainly be an open and entertaining game,” Napoli director of sport Giuntoli told Radio Bruno.

“The table thus far doesn’t have one dominant side. Juventus remain the team to beat, even if they are a little far behind at the moment.

“We are happy with the work Maurizio Sarri has been doing with the squad, so we must continue like this.”

Giuntoli also confirmed the two clubs were in negotiations for players.

“It’s true we spoke to Fiorentina to bring Matias Vecino to Napoli. This lad has great technique and pace. Naturally Paulo Sousa is getting the best out of him.

“There was not a specific offer for him, we just showed interest.”
