The Giallorossi seemed to be on Cloud Nine after beating Juventus 2-1, but have stuttered since then and scraped only one point from the last two Serie A games against Sassuolo and Sampdoria.

There are even reports that Coach Rudi Garcia has three matches to turn things around, including next week’s Champions League trip to BATE Borisov.

Florenzi has not recovered in time from a muscular problem sustained against Sampdoria on Wednesday night, joining Wojciech Szczesny and Kevin Strootman on the treatment table.

That means Douglas Maicon returns to the starting XI, though De Rossi retains his spot at centre-back.

Mohamed Salah and Edin Dzeko are joined by Gervinho in a trident attack.

Carpi are still looking for their first Serie A victory in this debut campaign, but have held Palermo and this week Napoli to stalemates.

The new boys are without Jerry Mbakogu, Nicolas Spolli, Kamil Wilczek, Francesco Benussi, Luca Marrone and Lorenzo Lollo.

They do have ex-Roma striker Marco Borriello leading the way with support from Fiorentina-owned talent Ryder Matos.

Former Milan veteran Cristian Zaccardo is also helping to strengthen the defence.
