The Friulani are under immense pressure after a club record five consecutive home defeats.

“I have been under pressure since the first day I arrived in Udine,” declared Colantuono in his Press conference.

“I read a few too many stupid things in the papers, such as that the President wanted to interview the older players to clarify the situation.

“The President didn’t have to talk to anyone else, as he has daily discussions with me. We had a meeting and after the meeting the President spoke to the players in order to show his support. If there are problems, the President speaks to me about them.”

Udinese started the campaign with a shock 1-0 win away to Juventus, but have lost every game since.

Bruno Fernandes is suspended against Bologna, while Guilherme and Alexander Merkel remain sidelined.

“I like to play with someone who can build moves in a three-man midfield, so when Guilherme got injured during his best period of form, something was lost in terms of development. Now we have signed Francesco Lodi, who has these characteristics of a playmaker. He’s not match fit, but he is in the squad.

“We tried a change of tactics against Milan to come back from 3-0 down and it went well, even if we still lost 3-2. We had intended to do that earlier, but with injuries, players away and a packed fixture list, we didn’t have time to explore it fully.

“Bologna had a similar journey to ours, as they deserved more in several games. We certainly need to interrupt this negative streak, even if in terms of performance I have very few complaints. We must be more concentrated in the decisive moments of a match.

“We’ve been unlucky too, but have the chance to pull ourselves out of this situation. We need to start off from the second half against Milan, as we did great things.”
