Roberto Mancini refused to call Inter Scudetto favourites after five consecutive victories, disposing of Verona 1-0.

The Nerazzurri are already three points clear of second-placed Fiorentina with their best start since 1967-68.

“We are storing away some nuts for winter,” smiled the Coach on Mediaset Premium.

“I am not satisfied with how we started the game tonight, though perhaps there was a bit of fatigue, but we improved after the break.

“I am happy for Felipe Melo, as he has this type of goal in his locker. The first few games in a season are always going to be difficult, as proved by the fact other sides more suited to the title are struggling.

“Our performances will improve game by game, it takes one step at a time. Are we Scudetto favourites? Maybe until the next game, as it will be certainly tough against Fiorentina.”

Adem Ljajic made his Inter debut from the start, but failed to impress.

“Adem can do better. So can Ivan Perisic, though he is a more physical player and needs more time to settle in.”

Jonathan Biabiany made his comeback over a year after being diagnosed with heart problems.

“I am happy with his return to the field after everything he went through. I am convinced he can give us a big hand, seeing as we have few alternatives in his position.

“It’s only the fifth round, we are happy, but also aware that difficult moments will arrive.”
