Sampdoria are working to convince midfielder Roberto Soriano to sign an extension until 2019, to ward off future raids by Napoli and Milan.

The 24-year-old was the object of a stormy transfer market saga as the Partenopei missed the deadline to deposit the player's contract.

The player was also a target for Milan, and it seems President Massimo Ferrero wants to guard himself against future swoops.

According to Tuttosport, Sampdoria are working to get the player to sign an extension.

The new deal would see Soriano earning a higher salary and being bound to the Blucerchiati until 2019.

The clause to rescind the contract would also be raised to €15m from the original €10m.
