Ivan Perisic arrived today for his medical, but Mancio shrugged off any questions about the Wolfsburg winger.

“We’ve got to focus on Carpi now,” said the Coach in his Press conference.

“We must play to the best of our abilities, which won’t be easy because Carpi will give it all they’ve got. It will be a very difficult match.”

Icardi felt a muscular twinge during the warm-up of last week’s 1-0 win over Atalanta and went off after 15 minutes. Will he be risked tomorrow?

“No, absolutely not. I will not risk him. No game is easy in Serie A. Carpi are playing at home for the first time ever in the top flight, so we need an extraordinary performance to get three points.

“We have to continue along the path we started against Atalanta. If there are any questions about the transfer market, you can ask the club directors. We are all concentrated on Carpi.

“Unfortunately I’ve realised since returning that the situation in Italy has got even worse. There is pressure even in friendly games.”
