Roberto Mancini discussed several Inter transfer stories, including Felipe Melo, Mateo Kovacic, Eder, Ivan Perisic and Juan Jesus.

The Coach spoke to Radio Deejay on Saturday morning and was open about the situation ahead of transfer deadline day.

“I don’t know if Eder will arrive. It seems like a difficult negotiation process, but we’ll see,” he said of the Sampdoria striker.

“Felipe Melo is an experienced player who can help us in the middle of the pitch. In my view the memory of him in Italy is linked to a difficult moment of his career, but he does have quality.

“I don’t know if he will come to Inter, as this too is not an easy negotiation with Galatasaray.”

Some deals have already gone through, most notably Mateo Kovacic to Real Madrid and Xherdan Shaqiri to Stoke City.

“Nobody wanted this, but unfortunately it was an economic issue,” said Mancini. “There are agreements with UEFA to respect, otherwise next year we’d be back to square one.

“The only fairly big financial offers were for him and Shaqiri. We wanted to keep Kovacic and held out as long as was possible, but then we didn’t bring in money for other players, so we had to make this choice.

“Mateo has a lot of quality, like all young players he still needs time, but the opportunity to join Real Madrid happens once in a lifetime. The fans are upset, I understand that, but there was an agreement with UEFA we had to stick to.”

That money is being used well, as Perisic flies in for his medical today after a €20m deal with Wolfsburg.

“Perisic should arrive today. Will Juan Jesus stay? Yes.

“There are new players, it will take time, but I am fairly convinced that those who were here last season can do well, because they have improved.”
