Italy has three representatives in this stage of the competition, with Lazio dropping down from the Champions League, and Sampdoria eliminated by Vojvodina.

Napoli were top seeds for this afternoon’s draw, and were handed a navigable group, albeit with some tough away trips.

The Partenopei will play Club Brugge, eliminated from the Champions League by Manchester United, Legia Warsaw and Southampton’s conquerors Midtjylland.

Like Napoli, fiorentina will also face a trip to Poland, as they have been drawn in Group I with Lech Poznan, as well as Swiss side FC Basel.

Belenenses, who finished sixth in the Portuguese Liga last season are the final side in the group, where the Viola are seeded second.
