“We are facing a difficult opponent, but expect to put in a great performance that should give us an excellent result,” said the Coach.

“Let’s not forget Napoli fought to the last day for a Champions League spot. They have a different Coach now, but the quality of the squad remains the same and their players can change a game at any moment.

“Sarri hasn’t had much time, but you can already see his influence in their friendlies. On paper they have a better chance of winning, but naturally I hope the field will give a different response.”

Sassuolo have never beaten Napoli with just one draw from four previous top flight meetings.

“This is our third year in Serie A and we must grow, grow, grow. We have many youngsters who need to mature. I have many options and will decide overnight who is in the starting XI.”

Luca Antei is the only player on the treatment table, so Gregoire Defrel is expected to start in a trident with Domenico Berardi and Antonio Floro Flores.

Sassuolo squad for Napoli: Pomini, Consigli, Pegolo; Longhi, Vrsaljko, Peluso, Acerbi, Fontanesi, Gazzola, Terranova, Cannavaro; Magnanelli, Pellegrini, Missiroli, Biondini, Laribi, Duncan; Falcinelli, Politano, Sansone, Berardi, Floro Flores, Defrel
