Delio Rossi felt Bologna “could’ve equalised with a little more luck” in their 2-1 defeat to Lazio.

The first half was largely one-way traffic until Matteo Mancosu pulled one back at the Stadio Olimpico.

“We had done well enough in the first five minutes, then Lazio emerged and we were a little too soft,” Rossi told Sky Sport Italia.

The first half was largely one-way traffic until Matteo Mancosu pulled one back at the Stadio Olimpico.

“We had done well enough in the first five minutes, then Lazio emerged and we were a little too soft,” Rossi told Sky Sport Italia.

“I was curious to see how the team would react after going 2-0 down in Rome, but we did slowly come out of our shell and with a little more luck could’ve equalised.

“We know that we have to grow, but there were already positive signs from this performance.”

Mattia Destro was given his debut for the final 15 minutes, as he only had two training sessions with his new squad.

“I find it aberrant that we can play two Serie A rounds with the transfer market still open, players arriving two days before a game and others who have their minds elsewhere. I can’t wait for it to end.

“When the market does close, we can settle on a precise system, but for the moment this is the tactic that is most suited to the players at my disposal.

“We have alternatives, but if you don’t have certainties then alternatives on top of alternatives risk getting confusing.”

Amadou Diawara was given his Serie A debut just a month after turning 18.

“He’s got a long way to go and plays in a delicate role, but he has character and has improved over pre-season training. I’d be careful before labelling him a phenomenon.”
