Palermo released a statement insisting Franco Vazquez and Achraf Lazaar are not for sale after links with Juventus and Monaco.

There were reports Juve had renewed their interest in Vazquez after giving up on Julian Draxler, while Monaco were expected to spend €10m on Morocco international full-back Lazaar.

On Wednesday evening, the Sicilian club took the unusual step of releasing a statement to address these rumours.

“Palermo strongly reaffirm that Achraf Lazaar and Franco Vazquez are not for sale.

“The club is disappointed at the protraction of these supposed indiscretions on the sale of two players, despite the fact their fundamental importance to the project has been confirmed many times.

“The club wishes to point out it will take all necessary steps to ensure the squad has another two quality players coming in before the end of the transfer session.”
