Former Bologna and Fiorentina midfielder Alessandro Diamanti has officially joined Premier League side Watford.

The Italian international spent the second half of last season with the Viola, and had been linked with a return to Bologna this summer.

However, the 32-year-old has instead decided to return to England, where he previously impressed with West Ham United.

“Watford have completed the signing of Italian international Alessandro Diamanti on a season-long loan, subject to receiving international clearance,” the club announced on its official website.

The left-footed set-piece specialist adds further quality and experience to Quique Sanchez Flores’ squad, with more than 300 domestic appearances to his name in Italy, England and China.”
