Daniele Buzzegoli’s free kick briefly gave Novara hope of a comeback, before Duvan Zapata set up Edenilson two minutes later for the Brazilian to score on his debut.

The hosts went in front after 28 minutes when Guilherme scored with a stunning effort from 35 yards that flew into the bottom corner.

Only two minutes later, the Zebrette doubled their lead after Antonio Di Natale threaded a pass through for Thereau to finish with a tap in.

With twenty minutes left, summer signing Duvan Zapata came on to make his competitive debut for Udinese.

Novara halved the deficit on the 73rd minute, when Buzzegoli curled a free kick beyond Karnezis.

However, the home side extended their advantage again instantly, with new boy Zapata setting up fellow debutant Edenilson for his first goal for the Friuli side.
