The Nerazzurri have been involved in negotiations for the Wolfsburg star throughout the summer, but the saga took another turn yesterday when Perisic was left out of their squad.

Gazzetta dello Sport has written today that Inter will look closer to home to sign a winger if they fail to sign the Croatia international.

The paper believes that Genoa’s Diego Perotti remains the number one fall back option, despite Grifone President Enrico Preziosi’s declaration that he won’t sell the attacker.

Other reported options are Napoli’s Dries Mertens and it has been suggested that the Belgian could arrive as part of an exchange deal involving defender Juan Jesus.

Finally, Lazio’s Keita Balde Diao is an option after demanding a move away from the capital and Roma’s Adem Ljajic could be involved in a deal that could see Andrea Ranocchia heading the other way.
