Roma have officially confirmed the long-awaited signing of Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko.

The Bosnia-Herzegovina international has been training with the Giallorossi this week, but the deal met a series of delays.

The first hurdle was the Lupi’s non-EU quota, with no space on the squad list for the new signing, but that was overcome when Antonio Sanabria was loaned to Sporting Gijon.

There was concern earlier today as there was a crucial document missing to finally make the deal official, but Roma have now confirmed the signing in a statement.

"AS Roma are delighted to confirm the signing of Bosnian international Edin Dzeko from Manchester City,” the Giallorossi confirmed on their official website.

"The 29-year-old striker put pen to paper on a contract with the Giallorossi today after successfully completing his medical in Italy.

"Dzeko has been one of the most sought after forwards in Europe this summer after he made it clear he was ready for a new challenge after a four-year stay in the English Premier League."

Dzeko is therefore free to make his Roma debut in Friday’s friendly with Sevilla. The player will be presented to fans and media tomorrow.
