The young Frenchman went off injured during the Rossoneri’s 3-0 defeat to Bayern Munich, and the club has confirmed he will now miss at least six weeks.

“AC Milan announces that M’Baye Niang was operated on today by professor Niek Van Dijk and assisted by Milan’s club doctor Stefano Mazzoni,” a statement on the club’s website confirmed.

“The operation was for a fractured fifth metatarsal in the right foot and was a complete success.

“The French forward will now have a medical check-up and X-ray in 6 weeks’ time which will allow a more accurate recovery time to be established.”
