“It wasn’t a bad performance, it’s just that if the other teams scores in a delicately balanced match, it becomes really tough,” Klose told Lazio Style Channel.

Both teams complained about the state of the pitch in the Shanghai Stadium.
“In football you don’t watch the ball, but check where your teammates and opponents are. Here we couldn’t do that, as we had to watch the ball in case it took a weird bounce and changed direction.
“Of course our opponents were dealing with the same situation.”
Last season Lazio finished third in Serie A and reached the Coppa Italia Final, but this was their fifth consecutive summer defeat.
“We must be aware of what we can do and understand nobody will gift us anything. Now we need to start from scratch,” continued Klose.
“We have to work hard if we want another season like the last. We were a great team and certain still are, but it takes time to unite the squad.”
The Biancocelesti face Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League preliminary round with the first leg on August 18.
“In my view Bayer Leverkusen are a strong team. Now we need to recover, return to Italy and train well to keep our minds on this Champions League test.”
