Mohamed Salah gave his first interview as a Roma player after moving from Chelsea and “would like to stay for a long time.”

The Egyptian international completed his transfer on loan for €5m with option to buy for €15m that becomes mandatory after a certain number of games.

The move was delayed by Fiorentina threatening legal action, as he broke off from their agreed option to extend his loan for another season.

“I think Roma are one of the biggest clubs in the world and I'm happy to be in this team,” Salah told Roma TV wearing his new Number 11 shirt.

He was greeted by hundreds of supporters at Fiumicino Airport, a reception Edin Dzeko will also receive this evening.

“I didn't expect it but it was very nice for me. I was very happy and I enjoyed it.”

Considering the Viola debacle, Salah was asked if he had finally found a club where he could settle down.

“We never know what will happen next season. Let's see what will happen but I want to be at one club for a long time because in the last two years I was at Fiorentina for six months and I was at Chelsea for a year. I'd like to stay at one club for a long time.

“I think everybody here has ambition and everybody wants to win the title. That would be good for us and very good for the fans. Everybody will give their best to make the fans happy.

“I think we have to give everything to win the title or some other trophies this season – that would be the most important thing for us.

“I can say that we'll give everything this season. Everybody will fight and give their best for the club. We hope we can win titles this season.

“The Champions League is one of the reasons why I chose Roma. I want to play here and I want to play in the Champions League.”
