Roma have asked Real Madrid for Portuguese left-back Fabio Coentrao.

The Giallorossi agreed terms with Manchester City today for Edin Dzeko and have reportedly already exchanged paperwork awaiting an official announcement.

Director of sport Walter Sabatini is continuing his work and, according to Sky Sport Italia, Coentrao is the latest target.

Roma asked Real Madrid for the 27-year-old on loan with option to buy, but the Merengues would prefer that option to be mandatory come 2016.

The 27-year-old has 50 senior caps for Portugal, scoring five goals, and his contract with Real Madrid runs to 2019.

He has been at the Bernabeu since they paid €30m to Benfica in July 2011.
