The Viola have already surprised last week by beating Barcelona 2-1 and visit Stamford Bridge on Wednesday evening for the International Champions Cup.

“Only by playing at this level of difficulty can we grow individually and collectively,” the Coach told the official Viola website.

“We must make the most of these difficulties, as they can help us know our limitations more and more so that we can raise the performance level.

“From day one the players have shown extraordinary desire to work and I am very happy about that. They reflect the values of the fans and the city, as we know how many of them work hard and put money away to be there at the games and show their love for the Viola.

“We must reflect their spirit of sacrifice and reflect the fans on the field. I hope we will be able to make the fans even more proud of what we do.”

Sousa was speaking at a signing in Covent Garden at the flagship Le Coq Sportif store, which was done up in Viola colours for the occasion.

“I hope the start of this partnership will be fruitful for both Fiorentina and Le Coq Sportif so that the fans enjoy the clothing we put forward.”
