Daniele De Rossi says Roma must be considered Juventus' 'first rival', while admiring Maurizio Sarri's Napoli.

The midfielder was present for an event that celebrated the most recent TV agreement between Roma and Sky Sports, and he took the opportunity to discuss the upcoming season.

“Juventus, one year ago, looked weaker in terms of squad and Coach, and they ended up doing better than in the previous seasons,” he said.

“A team that wins four Scudetti in a row can't help but be considered the favourites.

“And the team that arrived in second place behind them can't help but be considered the first rival.

“The Milanese have bolstered their squads greatly, and Lazio will have their championship too.

“I've heard a lot of talk about [new Coach Maurizio] Sarri's Napoli, we saw him playing against some important rivals and his teams didn't look bad.

“Sarri took out teams that were much tougher than his own, we had trouble against them too.

“We'll see what he can do with a superior team."

The Italian international then discussed the Giallorossi's prospects in the Champions League.

“We risk another group of death. After Roma-Bayern we all agreed that our play was too open, too daring.

“Before that game I had faith that we could go up against anyone in a single match.

“But you could tell from our return leg that, regardless of our game, we hadn't understood the value of teams that were distinctly superior to us.

“Perhaps this season we'll even be able to cause them some trouble, since we're starting from the third seed.”
