Sweden Under-21 international Filip Helander has signed for Hellas Verona from Malmö.

The central defender recently turned 22 and was a key figure in their victory at the European Under-21 Championships.

“He is a talented player who did well in the Euros,” Malmö director of sport Daniel Andersson told Expressen.

“Helander told us that he wanted to leave over the summer and it was not our plan to put the brakes on his ambitions.

“We did offer a contract renewal, but we knew what he wanted.”
