Fabio Capello has left his post as head Coach of Russia by "mutual agreement" after an announcement was made by the Russian Football Union. 

The 69-year-old former Milan, Real Madrid and England Coach had been in charge of the side since 2012, leading them to the World Cup in Brazil last year.

However, a statement on the RFS website confirmed that the two parties have now separated.

However, a statement on the RFS website confirmed that the two parties have now separated.

“The Russian Football Union and head Coach of the national team of Russia Fabio Capello have reached an agreement to terminate the employment contract by mutual agreement,” read the statement.

“We sincerely thank Fabio Capello for his work as head Coach and wish him success in his future career.

“Fabio Capello in turn thanks the Russian Football Union for the help and support he has received in the last few years.

“He is also grateful to the players for working together and the fans for their sincere support of the team.”
