Radja Nainggolan said signing a new Roma contract to 2020 was “something we both wanted.”

The midfielder put pen to paper today, securing improved terms on the deal that had been due to expire in June 2018.

“It was something we both wanted,” the Belgian told Roma TV.

“I am happy and so is the club. We both took a step forward and found the best solution for everyone.

“Now we must start from scratch and do better than last season. We are preparing physically to win something important this year.”

Roma are about to fly off for their pre-season tour, which takes in Australia and Indonesia.

“Indonesia is a beautiful country with many fans of mine and of Roma. It’ll be a pleasure to revisit my origins.”
