The two teams exchanged paperwork for the Iceland international midfielder, but he then appeared to step up his wage demands.

“We reached an agreement with Torino, complete with signed documents,” Pescara President Daniele Sebastiani told Calcionews24.com.

“We would like for that promise to be respected, but the player also has to understand something. If he doesn’t reach an agreement with Toro, he needs to find an alternative that suits our requirements.

“As things currently stand, we have not received any offer from Basel. The lad made it very clear he wanted to play in Serie A and we worked to make him happy.

“I just want Bjarnason to be fully aware that we have to reach the agreement with the other club, otherwise he’s not going anywhere.”

Pescara are also in negotiations with Palermo to sell creative midfielder Gaston Brugman.

“It’s not just Palermo tracking the player, but also Bologna and Sassuolo. We’ll see what happens, we’re in no rush.”
