Olympique Marseille have agreed terms with the Nerazzurri for a one-season loan at €1m with mandatory option to buy for a further €19m.

An announcement has been expected for days now, but there is still no statement from either club.

According to Le Parisien, L’Equipe and Sky Sport Italia, this is because Imbula is ‘unconvinced’ by his prospects at San Siro.

He wants regular playing time and with Geoffrey Kondogbia arriving from Monaco in an already-crowded midfield, that is not guaranteed.

Instead, the 22-year-old Frenchman is considering proposals from Valencia and Southampton.

The Saints see him as an ideal replacement for Morgan Schneiderlin, who is heading towards Manchester United.
