Lazio have announced the termination of Diego Novaretti’s contract ahead of an expected move to Mexican club Leon. 

The defender was believed to be on the way out before the announcement, as Leon President Jesus Murgia announced on Sunday that a deal was close.

Today Lazio confirmed on their official website that the 30-year-old, who has been with the Biancoceleste for two seasons, has had his contract terminated.

Today Lazio confirmed on their official website that the 30-year-old, who has been with the Biancoceleste for two seasons, has had his contract terminated.

“S.S Lazio announce that the economic contract of the player Diego Martin Novaretti has been terminated,” read a statement on the club website.

Novaretti arrived from Mexican side Toluca in 2013 and has made 24 appearances for the Aquile but found himself out of favour under Stefano Pioli, making only five league appearances this season.
