Reports in Britain claim Watford have made a €9.7m bid for Genoa winger Diego Perotti.

The Argentine winger joined the Grifone last summer from Sevilla, and helped Gian Piero Gasperini’s men to sixth place in Serie A.

The 26-year-old contributed four goals and five assists in his 27 League games last season, which Sky Sports says has caught the eye of newly-promoted Watford.

The news outlet believes the Hornets are ready to break their transfer record with a €9.7m bid, as they prepare for Premier League football.

The club is owned by the Pozzo family which also controls Udinese, and has made a habit of signing players from the peninsula over the past few seasons.

Marco Motta, Marco Cassetti and Christian Battocchio have all plied their trade at Vicarage Road in recent seasons, in addition to several Primavera players being loaned from Udinese.
