Massimo Rastelli has been appointed as the new Cagliari Coach, replacing Gianluca Festa following relegation.

The 46-year-old took Avellino into the Serie B play-offs this season, where they were knocked out by Bologna, by virtue of the Rossoblu having finished higher in the table.

“Cagliari Calcio announces that it has entrusted the technical guidance of the first team to Massimo Rastelli,” announced a statement on the Isolani’s website.

“The new coach has signed an agreement effective from 1 July 2015 and running until 30 June 2018.

“The Coach, born in 1968, arrives after gaining promotion to the Prima Divisione with Juve Stabia, and the recent positive experience at Avellino, taking them from the Lega Pro to within one step of the play-off final.

“Joining him in Sardinia are assistant coach Dario Rossi, the goalkeeping coach David Dei and technical coach Fabio Esposito.”
