Lazio President Claudio Lotito is reportedly being investigated for attempted extortion. 

ANSA has reported that officers from Digos, the Italian Special Branch, have begun a search of the Federcalcio offices as part of an inquest by the Naples public prosecutor’s office.

The media outlet believes that the search was prompted by the recording of a phone call featuring Lotito given to the investigators in the last few months by Pino Iodice, Director General of Ischia Calcio.

The alleged offences relate to the distribution of funds to football clubs.

The investigation is being conducted by Naples prosecutors Vincenzo D’Onofrio, Vincenzo Ranieri, Stefano Capuano and Danilo De Simone and is coordinated by deputy prosecutor Vincenzo Piscitelli.
