Parma administrators confirm “there have been nine expressions of interest” in buying the club, but “June 9 it’ll be Serie B or D.”

The Ducali have been under administration since late March, but so far no official bids have been made at the various auctions to buy out the club.

If no buyer is found in the next few weeks, Parma are likely to disappear off the football map and be forced to start again in the amateur leagues.

The Ducali have been under administration since late March, but so far no official bids have been made at the various auctions to buy out the club.

If no buyer is found in the next few weeks, Parma are likely to disappear off the football map and be forced to start again in the amateur leagues.

“There have been nine different expressions of interest, all of them given access to the data room,” noted administrator Alberto Guiotto in a Press conference.

The major problem is the ‘sporting debt’ – money owed to players, staff and other clubs – as this has to be reduced to a minimum before Parma can be allowed to register for Serie B on June 9.

“The sporting debt was over €79m, but is now at around €27m,” added administrator Riccardo Anedda.

“There is not a single euro of debt towards overseas clubs.”

Much of the debt was reduced by agreements with individual players to waive up to 75 per cent of the outstanding wages owed.

Nobody at the club has been paid since July 2014, including some who left Parma in January or terminated their contracts early by mutual consent.

Parma were only able to finish the season thanks to a ‘loan’ from the Lega Serie A – the other 19 clubs – of €5m.

However, there are problems here too, as Guiotto points out “the agreement with the Lega Serie A was completely different.

“It was not meant to represent part of the sporting debt. A letter from the FIGC this weekend put it in writing that this €5m will not be added to the sporting debt.

“The parachute payment for relegation into Serie B will be available for the new buyer.”
