Perugia had home advantage, as they finished in sixth place ahead of Pescara, but the decision to hire Coach Massimo Oddo for the final round of the regular season has proved inspired.

The visitors hit the woodwork early on through Federico Melchiorri, but Perugia went in front after 52 minutes with a free header from Edoardo Goldaniga.

However, Matteo Politano and a Birkir Bjarnason penalty turned the whole game around in the space of 12 minutes.

Perugia goalkeeper Jan Koprivec will be feeling the heat, as his howler allowed the equaliser to squirm under his body.

They go out of the play-offs, ending a 13-match unbeaten run and having lost at home only once this season.

Pescara go on to face Vicenza in the semi-final on Friday.

Tonight there is Spezia v Avellino and the winners will take on Bologna.
