Luca Toni would love to make history by becoming the first Verona player to be crowned Capocannoniere.

His brace in the 2-2 draw at Parma today took his seasonal tally to 21 – one more than Juventus hitman Carlos Tevez and Inter’s Mauro Icardi.

“I am relaxed and hoping to take my chances,” said the striker who turns 38 on Tuesday.

“Winning the Capocannoniere crown would be very satisfying for me and the team, because it is thanks to them that I have 21 goals.

“No Gialloblu player has ever been Capocannoniere in Serie A, so it’d be nice to become the first.”

Verona fought back from 2-0 down at the Stadio Tardini for today’s 2-2 draw.

“Parma started strong and we weren’t expecting that. We wake up late, then with a pinch of luck got back into the game and could even have won.”
