Paolo Maldini has become the owner of a new franchise, Miami FC, who begin playing in 2016.

The Milan legend bought the franchise with entrepreneur Riccardo Silva and this is the city’s only professional football club.

This side will be in the NASL – North American Soccer League – the second division behind the MLS.

“Miami finally has an ownership group with a global vision and the experience to build a proper club that all of Miami will be proud to support,” said NASL Commissioner Bill Peterson.
